Kenneth B. McClain began the firm’s asbestos practice in 1984 representing the Independence, Missouri school district in the first case in the country where a verdict was returned for a school district for the cost of removing asbestos from a building. Since then, Mr. McClain has represented asbestos personal injury victims and owners of buildings contaminated by asbestos across the United States. On October 6, 1997, he settled the first individual tobacco tort action in New York for Janet Sackman, the Lucky Strike poster model. A 1982 graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, Mr. McClain is a nationally recognized trial lawyer specializing in toxic tort cases throughout the country.

Steven E. Crick has practiced in the firm’s asbestos division since 1986 and today oversees the asbestos litigation for the firm. Over his career, Mr. Crick has represented thousands of individuals in asbestos personal injury litigation yet his practice is focused to allow him to give attention to individual clients. He also represents clients injured by toxic chemicals or suffering from occupational injuries and recently settled actions for persons injured by exposure to excessive vibration and to formaldehyde. A 1984 graduate of the University of Missouri at Kansas City, Mr. Crick has served the legal community as President of the Eastern Jackson County Bar Association.

Scott A. Britton-Mehlisch. Over the past ten years, Mr. Britton-Mehlisch has gained extensive experience overseeing the design and organization of our office’s many document databases, depositions and other information which the firm maintains in order to prepare liability claims against asbestos products manufacturers, in addition to other complex litigation practice experience. He had used this experience in representing dozens of building owners with asbestos in their buildings and thousands of workers with asbestos disease at trial. Mr. Britton-Mehlisch, a valued expert in the use of computer resources for legal purposes, is a 1989 graduate of University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Law.
